Debi is not only a gifted jewellery maker but also creates her own unique glass beads.
She combines her handspun glass beads with other beads and findings to create magnificant original pieces, each totally unique with striking colours. "My first foray to the bead shop was purely innocent - I wanted supplies to fix a couple of broken necklaces, but soon I was hooked!
My husband Russ and I have done some fossicking, and he facets the stones we find, though it became harder to find the time with the pressures of two growing boys and a fulltime job.
Making my own glass beads seemed a natural progression:it's something I can do at home, it's relaxing and gets my creative juices flowing.
I take my inspiration from the colourful fish of the Great Barrier Reef and the beautiful tropical flowers in my garden.
I take pleasure in the fact that my handcrafted beads are unique. I am creating heirlooms for the future."
